Jim Shulz has secured St John School on Kingsbury and Monroe in
Laporte on Saturday Nov 7 from 10 am till Noon pm as a test date to see
how the venue will work out . It is a 84 x 50 room with 22 high
ceiling. The School charges $20 an hour for the use of the room so the
more that show up the less it will cost per person. If this works out
we will be posting an indoor schedule.

We had a great time Thanks Jim.There are a couple pictures in PICS.We have another indoor flight date set for November 29 from 2pm till 4pm
Hope to see you there

November

We started our with talk about indoor flight. Rodney has heard back from Westville school and they said No.
Jim Shultz has secured St John School on Kingsbury and Monroe in Laporte on Saturday Nov 7 from 10 am till 3 pm as a test date to see how the venue will work out . It is a 84 x 50 room with 22 high ceiling. The School charges $20 an hour for the use of the room so the more that show up the less it will cost per person. If this works out we will be posting an indoor schedule.

Rodney and Henry have mounted the sign to the field house and also have tightened up the fence.
The port-a-pot will be drained and locked some time this month.

Discussion on the new FAA guidelines for UAV (rc models) was discussed and the 100 mph speed limit is in effect and looks like turbine powered model aircraft are a thing of the past. There is a 52 lb weight limit for models. There is no flying with in a 3 mile radius of an airport unless the airport allows it. There is a 400 foot ceiling on rc flight also. This is all thanks to Home land security. Failure to follow FAA guidelines will result in you having to get a private pilots license to fly your model.

Some discussion about some issues that occurred at the IMAC event @ Wheeler involving alcohol on the premises . We reviewed our bylaws and discussed possible ammendments regarding the subject.

Nominations for 2010 officers took place, and unless some one besides the currant officers want the job the nominees will be the same for 2010 as were held in 2009. So if you want an offer position, come to the December meeting and get in to the race.

Our meetings will be at the Airport until May
We started out this months meeting with some discussion on the FAA Unmanned Aircraft issues that may affect us in our modeling .
http://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Order/1110.150.pdf
http://api.ning.com/files/J2uMKd6TbKnqWyN70JFHh6TtE3p5-S0n3C3mDsOvR-tl5yiOuwzimc6D36duizUMH3wZg86TjJHECWIzShV76KgMlxeONh1G/sUAS_ARC.pdf
There will be a proposed FAA meeting late November.

Rodney had mentioned that he was going to put the sign back up on the field house. He also mentioned that the plans for indoor flight at Westville high school are still in the planning stages.

The question as to where there are any Hobby shops left in the area came up and a list of G&G ,Valpo pet & Hobby and Hobby Town on 41 & 30 made the list. Kelly from RC's is still doing it but by appointment only.

The roller in the shed was auctioned off due to we don't use it any more. Henry won it.

The porta pot will be closed in November and we will be needing some additional people for the mowing crew for next year.

Nominations for Officers will be at the November meeting!

The November meeting will be at the Laporte Airport

We had a short meeting due to lack of attendance.
Charlie Bauer has sent a letter asking for out support in the upcoming elections. He is asking for your vote.

Wheeler is holding n IMAC event September 16th and 20th. We have invited the Sundowner members who would like to fly to use our field on those two days.
We have also decided to allow the sundowners to purchase fuel from our club supply.

Again the subject of FAA changes affecting model aviation was brought up. Speed limit has been reduced to 100mph and there is talk of RC pilots having to have a plots license in the future.
Rodney has handled the Model Aviation magazine issue. We are suppose to be getting our magazines wrapped in plastic. If you do not receive your magazine it si up to you to contact the AMA about it.

The fun fly/picnic will be August 2nd. It will be just like last year, the club will supply the meat, buns and eating utensils and you are to bring your drink of choice and a side dish. The contests will be @ 8:00 am for electrics and 9:00 am for gas. This is where it is different. You will have input on what the contest will be. Come up with an event and it will be put in a hat and 2 events for electrics and 3 for gas will be drawn. If there is any supplies needed for the event that you come up with you must supply those supplies(balloons, balsa sticks, etc). There are limbo poles in the field house if anyone dares.

Lou had contacted the organizers of the Door Village Harvest fest to try to get us in as a static display. We voted that if they would have us we would do it. I will post any details as they develop .

Kelly from RC's Hobbies stopped by to inform us that he will only be at the hobby shop by appointment and the club fuel will have to be handled by some one else. Jim Smith has agreed to handle the club fuel. If you need fuel you must contact Jim at injays@msn.com

June meeting

Good News!
The field house is going to be re-sided by Doug Davies. We must keep on doing what we have been to keep the field appearance up and don't hit any of his buildings.
The recent No Fly caused by President Obama's visit to South Bend has brought discussion as to when you cannot fly. the no fly is a 30 mile radius from where the president or any VIP is to be. This means that if you fly gliders at Mt Bauldy and there is a VIP in Chicago You can not fly there. If there is a VIP at South Bend = no fly at our Field. This is part of homeland security and includes flying kites! If there is a No fly at our field rodney has expressed an invitation to fly at his house .
Our anual fun fly Picknic will be August 2nd. Details will be at the July meeting.

MODEL AVIATION MAGAZINE
If you have been having a problem getting your magazine we hope to be getting it rectified. AMA will be giving NIMA members a free plastic wrap option for the magazine for the year to see if it helps with delivery

July meeting will be on July 5th.We figured there will probobly be enough members flying anyway .

This month's meeting was a short one.
The field house
We were advised that Doug had replaced the field house with a metal roof at no charge to the club.
The subject of painting or siding the field house was discussed and left up to Rodney to decide what we would do

Mowing Crew
We are short handed on the mowing crew and need volunteers to help keep the grass short. Buck is unable to do the mowing and Gene has taken his place bu we could still use one more on the crew.

Picnic/Fun Fly
A date has been set for our annual picnic / fun fly for August 2nd. More details will be given at a later meeting
Our meeting started out with some disscussion on FAA and regulations on how high we can fly our modles and when we ca and cannot fly them.Pretty much when Airforce 1 is in outh Bend ,We are grounded.Check out http://www.faa.gov/ for any new ruels .
Lou mentioned that there were some shingles off the feild house. Bucj=k is going to take care of that. The feild house is due for paint again ,Rodney will be taking care of that issue.
Rodney brought in a flyer for the Cliff Bennett Memorial on June 20 in South Bend.
We voted that Jake Neary would have a years membership for his generous donation.
